Due to the government’s proposal to make homes greener and more efficient you will have probably noticed an increase in Cavity Wall Insulation services.
Many companies have taken the opportunity to offer the service, taking advantage of the sudden demand as the government’s deadline for a greener society grows closer. Unfortunately not all of the companies who began offering the service were trained to do so and fell far below the guidelines and regulations set out by the CIGA (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency). Substandard installation of insulation does not only make it redundant in improving the energy efficiency of your home but can severely damage: brick work, cause damp, loosen wall ties, and rot any woodwork.
Many problems with cavity wall insulation can appear two or three winters after the installation so it may not be immediately apparent that a damp spot or internal wall damage is the result of bad cavity wall insulation.
